Your Questions About Petroleum Engineering Schools

Helen asks…

Which degree guarantees you a job?

I dont want to know what the highest paying bachelor’s degree is because I already know petroleum engineering came in 1st place and chemical engineering is 2nd

I just want to know which degree will land you a job ASAP

I want to be a MD but I am going through some hard times so I plan to switch my major from biology to something else that would land me a job right after I graduate.
Once I have a job I can always go back to school and obtain the additional courses required for med school

But for now I need to know which bachelor’s degree is in demand, its sad that I have to ask this question but the economy is messed up and we all know it so please dont judge me

Brad Perry answers:

No degree lands you a job automatically.
If you want to be an MD and are willing to study out of the country there’s a program that will send you to Cuba for almost free.
Even if you have a degree you also need to have good skills and references to get a job.

Sandra asks…

I dunno what route to take in the future =/?

Im 15 and this year will be finishing yr 11 at school and my plans are to stay 6th form and study a course for petroleum engineering however i dno what the competition will be like for this job and all the jobs out that (all the people being made redundant). I also know this person who works in mcdonalds and she has decent A-levels. I guess i will stick to sixth and my plans but im just saying is the competition for jobs gonna get worse and/or can it better?

Brad Perry answers:

1) Don’t plan ahead — always fails
2) Do what you enjoy most and are good at
3) Develop and improve your skills in what you are learning
4) Master it!

If being a petroleum engineer is what takes your fancy then go for it all the way!

I have a quote from a magazine I stuck on my wall, “Be confident that the market is there for whatever you are looking at.”, in essence successful people get ahead because they do not depend on things (economy) rather they don’t wait but make things happen, that’s the key to success.

* I recommend you read the books below. (I bet your teachers won’t have even read them)

That assumes there's something that could be done that isn't, someone who has answers that aren't being listened to. I don't see it. I saw a post at TPM by a petroleum engineer who said the only thing that s/he would have done differently is that “top kill” would have been the first move. The only difference I could imagine would be Carville defending the same actions he's screeching about now.]]>

no responsibility for ensuring accurate understanding between you and your sex partner, which is just like trying to get a consent form in the silly video you linked. I'm not okay with you getting out of responsibility.

Fourth, this notion that sexual frankness is a mood-killer is nonsense. If you sit with a sex partner and talk about things you'd like to do with each other and it kills the mood, yer doin it rong. Those of us who do BDSM cannot do what we do without explicit communication about likes and limits, and we still get off just fine.

Fifth, if we're assigning the burden of failed communication, I'd rather a misunderstanding result in folks not getting laid, not in women being sexually penetrated when they don't want to. Your view is, what, the reverse?

To get down to brass tacks, you're just wrong. I think just about everything you said is the same rehashed nonsense I've heard before.]]>

None of those really apply. You could put health care but then that mostly applies to human health care. Arts & sciences might work better since it's a science and the majority of the pre-vet coursework falls into this category.
