1. Development engineer for a national laboratory
2. Started as a post-master’s appointment for half my current salary, which is more than 60K but less than 70K.
3. I’ve worked for this company for 3.5 years
4. BS and MS (ChE) from Montana State, currently working on my PhD at Washington State.
5. HS = 3.4, College = 3.01, Grad school = 3.82
6. Combined SAT = 1530 (back in 1995)

i ama chemical engineer and planing of a career in the oil and gas[petroulem] industry.i vanna start by doing a masters course in petroleum engineering and i also got admission in a good university.im actually confused cos’ As a girl, is there a chance for me to work and earn well when compared to the guys?…because many of the petroleum jobs are onshore…and being in India..is this field suitable for me? will i get any jobs here in india or anywhere abroad?

You need either Africa, Middle East or South America. Areas where oil is present.
For the future, chemical research analysis to see how people can optimize oil use for our daily lives. As in, instead of me paying 100$ to fill up my car, I can pay 40$ to fill it up and drive as much.
Basically, if you can revolutionize Petroleum Science, your gold.
India has no future, or little future, for oil.
Middle East or South America is your target…Focus GREATLY on Language and Chemistry

The Chinese and Indians are graduating an awful lot of engineers; presumably a reasonable fraction of them are petroleum engineers.Given that, what (if any) barriers do you see to them being employed by the western oil companies? Obviously there are some language and cultural barriers, but sufficient economic inducement can maybe overcome all that.Any reason why they could not be the ones to fill the manpower gap?]]>
