Your Questions About Petroleum Engineering Colleges In Texas

Sharon asks…

Can I Got To These Colleges?

Well, Sophomore year, I had a 2.8 GPA first semester, second semester I got a 3.1.

This Junior year, I have a 3.5 first semester and I think I can target a 3.83, but 3.67 is more possible, if I try really hard, I can get a 4.0 maybe. Surely, I know I will get higher than a 3.5 though, or a 3.5 this semester at least.

I want to go to schools like Texas A&M and Texas University Austin or CSM, or some other schools like them.

Do I have a chance? I just slacked of for high school until Junior year. I don’t have an easy schedule, I have like 3 AP classes this year and last year 2.

I got an 1800 on the SAT without practice, and I will take it again.

I plan on majoring in Petroleum Engineering.

I live in California, and I live in the richest school district in California…….which is bad for me right? Can’t go to any school in CA because there is no Petroleum Engineering here………except for Stanford…..

Brad Perry answers:

Texas A&M’s admission difficulty is considered average.
Acceptance Rate: 67%
Average SAT Scores: 1580-1910
Average ACT Scores: 24–30
50% of applicants have a GPA in the top 10% of their high school class.

There is no Texas University? So I’m assuming you meant University of Texas. Lol.
University of Texas’s admission difficulty is considered average.
Acceptance Rate: 45%
Average SAT Scores: 1630-2010
Average ACT Scores: 24–30
75% of applicants have a GPA in the top 10% of their high school class.

I’m not sure what CSM stands for (College of Southern Maryland, College of San Mateo, College of Saint Mary?)

With all that being said, your SAT score is actually good! To improve your chances of admission you can get a higher score. Your GPA is definitely going to hurt you though. Just try your best the rest of your high school years and hopefully you can end up in the top 10% of your class.
You definitely need to be involved in a lot of clubs and sports, too. Also, volunteer work is really important. Try to get at least 100 hours of service before you apply your senior year.

Best of luck :)

David asks…

Which University Should I go to?

Hi, I am a current senior residing in california. Though I am not completely sure which schools have yet to accept me ( I applied to around 5 out of state, 3 Privates, and 5 UC’s ) So far i got some admission decisions and these are my universities that accepted me and for what major. A little bit of my future plans, I am planning on becoming a doctor, but I want a major that will help me in life financially if i ever dont get into medical school. So these are the schools that accepted me(sorry for ranting)
University of Louisiana at Lafayette – Petroleum Engineering
West Virginia University – Petroleum Engineering
University of Kansas – Petroleum Engineering
St. Johns University ( Queens) – Biology
Saint Louis University – Biomedical Engineering
The schools I have yet to hear from are, Stanford, UC Berekely,UC Los Angeles, UC Davis, UC San diego, UC Santa Barbara, Texas A&M ( College Station) Texas A&M ( Kingsville) Texas Tech University

So if someone would help me pick from the list of colleges that ALREADY accepted me, i would be more gracious, and if i do get into one of the universities listed below which do you suggest?

Brad Perry answers:

I would say university of kansas, and from the other schools i would say UCLA, or UC berkeley.

no responsibility for ensuring accurate understanding between you and your sex partner, which is just like trying to get a consent form in the silly video you linked. I'm not okay with you getting out of responsibility.

Fourth, this notion that sexual frankness is a mood-killer is nonsense. If you sit with a sex partner and talk about things you'd like to do with each other and it kills the mood, yer doin it rong. Those of us who do BDSM cannot do what we do without explicit communication about likes and limits, and we still get off just fine.

Fifth, if we're assigning the burden of failed communication, I'd rather a misunderstanding result in folks not getting laid, not in women being sexually penetrated when they don't want to. Your view is, what, the reverse?

To get down to brass tacks, you're just wrong. I think just about everything you said is the same rehashed nonsense I've heard before.]]>

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Rae Bareli

University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, Dehradun

Both Institutes are good but you must visit campuses of both and interact with present students there before taking your decision.
