Your Questions About Petroleum Engineering Schools In Texas

Lisa asks…

What GPA do I need to transfer to Texas A&M petroleum engineering?

I currently am enrolled at Auburn university finished my first semester with a 3.60 GPA. I am a Texas resident and want to go to school back in my home state. what are my chances?

Brad Perry answers:

You should be fine. Engineering programs generally have much lower GPA standards than liberal arts programs. If you were in an engineering program at Auburn and pulled off a 3.60 then you should have no trouble transferring to Texas A&M.

George asks…

Petroleum Engineering at Texas Tech or A&M, which should i choose?

I am from california and attending the best community college here. I want to move to texas and study petroleum engineering. I do plan to move next year (sophomore year) so i can establish texas residency before I transfer in to a University.

Now the question is: TTU vs A&M. I know A&M is better but I am looking for a school that is not too challenging, allowing my gpa to remain high. I also want a school that has a good network and whom employees in the oil and gas industries would rather higher. Another important factor is the diversity, I am African American and don’t wan’t to go through any dicrimination what so ever. I heard TTU is more friendly and liberal, unlike A&M.

Please do mention other school that may fall into the category mentioned ablove. inform me so I can decide on which to attend. Thank you :)

Brad Perry answers:

No question. Texas A&M is the best choice.

Contrary to what the media says, Texas in not populated with bigots or rednecks. It has a wide variation of people all of whom are accepted. Sure there are a few morons but the vast majority of Texans are friendly accepting people.

    The question is in dispute.
There are several ways to look at this. One way is to ask whether Computer Science grads can get a Professional Engineering License. Well, theoretically it's possible, but CS is not a recognized path to a Professional Engineering license. Computer ENGINEERING, on the other hand is recognized and ABET-accredited as a true Engineering degree. (ABET also accredits some Computer Science degrees).

Some jurisdictions (such as Ontario, Canada) license "Software Engineers". IEEE Certifies "Software Professionals" (Engineers).

Why did the Deepwater Horizon blow up last year, kill 11 workers, and cause the massive oil eruption into the Gulf of Mexico? You’re likely to get different answers if you talk separately to a petroleum engineer or an anthropologist. When they team up, it gets really interesting. Anthropologist Joseph Tainter (author of The Collapse of Complex Societies) and petroleum engineer Tad Patzek talk about the new book they’ve co-authored: Drilling Down: The Gulf oil debacle and our energy dilemma.

You are on the right track. Do various web searches with "rating", "compare" "review" and similar terms. Look at the Wiki pages, school websites, etc. You should also have books in the library at school comparing universities, and spend a few quid to get informal guides in bookstores. Also check with guidance councellor for reference books, they should have some.

Three world class universities in Scotland are:
University of Edinburgh, University of Glasgow, Univesity of St Andrews

These will be very competitive to get into.

    This page has terrific links:

This applies to ALL engineering schools ANYWHERE. However, the upper division classes are usually just as hard, and people continue to be "weeded" for at least the 3rd year. If they were easy, then engineering would be "easy" and therefore not as well paid. I've always said, "if it was easy, we wouldn't have a job."

It's really hard to be specific when saying 'spelling'. because sadly, you have A LOT of spelling and grammar issues!
First of all… Drop the exclamation mark spam. Please. It's something you write to your friends, not something that belongs in a novel!
Secondly, put some description in between your dialogue. I know it probably runs just like a movie for you, but we don't see that movie unless you describe it to us. All of that dialogue is just tedious to read and it gives me no mental image of what is happening.. I'm just trying to keep track of who is saying what.
Thirdly, there's something called a comma, use it! =) Just writing like this. it gets boring. It reminds me of reading a list aloud. And thus it doesn't get my attention and I stop reading. That's pretty quickly.
^ I hope that proved my point.

THat being said, take some time to edit – even before posting it to the B&A. Seeing things like 'repled' and 'exspressos' makes me think you're only doing it half-heartely!

All in all, this is pretty messy and I don't really understand what's going on. You should take some time to edit it so people who aren't you understand what story you're trying to tell us.

    1) The valid situation: Yahoo! has other companies as "partners" and therefore Yahoo content may appear in these other sites. This is allowed (and in fact we all agree to it when we sign the Terms of Service). If that's the case, you should see the words "Powered by Yahoo!Answers" and possibly a link to more information or to the original post.
    For instance:

    2) The most common case is not allowed, but there's almost nothing one can do about it. It happens when other sites (commercial sites/forums/etc.) "scrape" YA content and post it in their own site to give the appearance that their empty forums have actual users and high traffic. It also helps them to become indexed by web search engines like Google.
You could try writing to the Y!Answers Team at the address , but there's no guarantee that they'll be able to help. You could also contact the webmaster of the "scraper" site and tell them to remove your content; however, I don't think that's a good idea, because once you contact them they'll know that you are out there and will probably flood you with spam. For the same reason, I strongly suggest you DON'T try to register for those forums. You will not be able to edit your stolen content anyway, and you'll be giving them your email data.

Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry walked a fine line when presented with questions about President Barack Obama’s birth certificate — which was released by the White House earlier this year — in a new interview with Parade magazine published online. When asked if he believes the president was born in the United States, the Texas governor said, "I have no reason to think otherwise." Pressed on the nature of his answer, Perry added, "Well, I don’t have a definitive answer, because he’s never seen my birth certificate."Here’s an excerpt of the subsequent exchange that went down on the birth certificate issue:Read More… More on Rick Perry

Jesus didn't give us a new covenant that would be an abolishioning of the old law. You are trying to argue grace vs the law. I am sorry but grace doesn't cancel out the law. It simply keeps you from being punished for original sin and allows you access through the kingdom of heave through the blood and your works upon this earth. Like I said before don't try to play this game with me. Being Catholic I know the history of Christianity quite well and I understand prophetic law.

This is the theory of how a Thelanu beam pulverizes matter. When the tip of the Thelanu beam touches anything the atoms at the target DO NOT heat up but simply falls apart, melts, disintegrates, because the neutrons in the atomic structures are rapidly displaced from the nuclei. When neutrons get displaced from the nuclei of atoms, atomic centripetal forces collapse the material into a 'silent' implosive destruction. Not much heat is generated.

The answer lies in what you like the best and can see yourself doing for the next 30+ years. All 4 fields can be challenging to different degrees and interesting to different people. Don't just go where you might earn the most money to start with but then wind up hating your job and being miserable.

Start your degree with what interests you the most and do everything possible to secure either a summer intern or yearly intern position within that industry. That will provide you with some insight into the types of work you might be doing after graduation. If you don't like that choice, then consider changing your degree. If you major in Engineering, there is not a lot of difference in Engineering degrees during the first 2 years. You might only be behind a couple of classes to change majors in Engineering.

Petroleum Engineers earn the highest starting salary for all BS (4-year) and Masters degree programs of any type and have so for the past 30+ years. Petroleum Engineering can be extremely interesting and challenging but not all people feel the same way. Also, the demand for Petroleum Engineers is very high world wide and will only increase as many of us retire in the next 5 to 10 years.

    I live in New Mexico.
"New Mexico is one of three states, including Utah and Washington, that allow illegal immigrants to lawfully obtain driver's licenses provided they show proof of residency."

In NM the license given to the illegals look just like mine. So there are places that will not take a NM driver's license for my ID. We have suggested that we follow Utah's "This license is for DRIVING privileges only. But in NM – their license has no special ID information. Plus we push very hard to get everyone with a license to vote. The other problem is that it has been suggested that we make it expire when their visa runs out. But no we just issue a regular license.

In the above answer are two statements that came from another site but is widely talked about in the Local area. These two statements are marked { …*} and they came from

"Democratic state Rep. Miguel Chavez, who helped pass legislation allowing the licenses, said that since the law's implementation in 2003, New Mexico had dramatically improved its level of insured motorists."
    Every story about this tell that it is to get more people to have insurance. Well guess what? They are getting the application for the insurance and they get the bill go get their license and never pay the bill. {Whether it has achieved this goal is doubtful—New Mexico still has one of the highest rates of uninsured drivers in the country.*}

"According to the program's figures, the latest certification data shows that 31.5 percent of all letters mailed out have been returned as undeliverable."
But we are also finding that 100's of people are using the same address. We are having people come here from out of state – pick up a electric bill showing an address and using that to prove that they "Live" here. They pay big $ to get that bill to take to the Department of Motor Vehicle to get their license. They get their NM license and go disappear in the other 49 states. They now have an accepted form of ID. Also understand that that 31.5 % is only of the first 10,000 licenses where the letters have been sent.

    "Earlier this month, an Albuquerque woman was indicted on charges of creating fraudulent residency documents to help illegal immigrants obtain licenses in the state." {However, it has attracted illegal immigrants from across the country to the state, many of whom never actually reside in New Mexico before attaining a license. Fraudulent license makers are posting ads in Spanish-speaking newspapers as far away as New York offering New Mexico driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants.*}
They way we are finding out that an address is illegal is varied and sometimes funny. A local TV station got a letter addressed to a person. That person gave his permanent address as the TV station. The station aired the letter. That person and thousands like him/her are all over the USA with their legal New Mexico Driver's license.

How would you like to be sitting on a plane next to an illegal with a valid New Mexico's license?

"More than 85,000 foreign nationals without a Social Security Number have obtained New Mexico driver's licenses since 2003."
We have only sent some 10,000 letter of that 85,000. We already have 31% questionable addresses. Many of us have asked Governor Martinez to send all 31% to the voter registration and find out how many of those are registered to vote. Actually some of us would like to send all 10,000 to the voter registration to be checked.

The short answer, a Colonization by American Empire!

I posited the following diatribe in another question, but it fits here as well:

Poor deluded schmucks!! This is what your success looks like:

After ethnic cleansing of formerly mixed neighborhoods is complete… A relative calm descends o'er the land. Soon the people begin to realize that we, EXXON-Mobil, Conoco-Phillips, BP et al are raping them dry and they then NATIONALIZE their OIL industry just like everyone else has, i.e, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Venezuela and IRAN…..

All that blood and treasure expended for what? a few years of looting the Iraqi OIL fields!!!!!

you are considered out of state if you go to a college outside of the state of which you are a legal resident, so yes you'll be considered an out of state student. Colleges lower the cost of tuition for in state students because they want more students to go to their school instead of somewhere else. If you need help paying for tuition there are lots of scholarships and grants (fill out the FAFSA) that cater to out of state students.

no responsibility for ensuring accurate understanding between you and your sex partner, which is just like trying to get a consent form in the silly video you linked. I'm not okay with you getting out of responsibility.

Fourth, this notion that sexual frankness is a mood-killer is nonsense. If you sit with a sex partner and talk about things you'd like to do with each other and it kills the mood, yer doin it rong. Those of us who do BDSM cannot do what we do without explicit communication about likes and limits, and we still get off just fine.

Fifth, if we're assigning the burden of failed communication, I'd rather a misunderstanding result in folks not getting laid, not in women being sexually penetrated when they don't want to. Your view is, what, the reverse?

To get down to brass tacks, you're just wrong. I think just about everything you said is the same rehashed nonsense I've heard before.]]>
